Rockwood letter carriers deliver to help hungry

Letter carriers with the Rockwood Post Office collected about 5,000 pounds of food during their annual food drive earlier this month.

Postal patrons left their donations of nonperishable foods in their mailboxes.

The food was picked up by the letter carriers making their routes and later delivered to the Rockwood Ministerial Association’s food pantry warehouse.

“Rockwood is very fortunate to have such caring residents,” said Bob Hembree, treasurer of the Rockwood Ministerial Association, “and the Rockwood Post Office employees have also made an outstanding contribution to the community.”

Rockwood Ministerial Association has served 6,000 people so far in 2013, Hembree added.
