A Rockwood passenger was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning on U.S. Hwy. 27 in North Harriman.
David A. Perkins, 70, was died while riding in a pickup driven by James D. Perkins, 32, also of Rockwood, who was injured.
The pickup struck a truck with an empty box trailer, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports.
Both vehicles were northbound on Hwy. 27 in the right lane. The truck and trailer attempted to turn right and the pickup failed to yield, THP reports said.
Perkins’ pickup swerved, but still struck the other truck, police said.
The truck driver, Tony L. Brogdon Jr., 35, of Maynardville, was not injured, but he was cited for driving on a suspended license.
The officer said seatbelts would have made no difference in the accident.
