The Rockwood Tigers played their first home games of the season Friday night and the results were mixed as the Lady Tigers and Tigers split their two games with visiting Oakdale.
In the girls game, the Lady Eagles built a solid lead early and were never seriously challenged in picking up a 48-35 victory.
In the final game of the evening, things stayed close for the better part of the three quarters, but Rockwood scored their first 10 points of the final period and that run proved huge as Paul Kamikawa's squad picked up a 48-39 victory.
Oakdale's Lindsey Kilby posted a double-double Friday night with 18 points and 11 rebounds in leading her Lady Eagles to a 13-point victory over the Lady Tigers.
Kilby did most of her damage in the first period as she scored 10 points in helping Oakdale to a 14-6 lead after eight minutes of play.
Reanna Henderson scored four points to lead Rockwood in the opening period.
The Lady Tigers got a big spark in the second period as freshman sensation Jade Napier torched the nets for 11 points in the frame, including a half court heave at the buzzer.
Napier's big quarter, however, wasn't enough to cut into Oakdale's lead as the Lady Eagles led 27-19 at halftime behind six more points from Kilby.
Rockwood found a way to contain Kilby in the second half, but Natalie McGill would pick up the slack. McGill buried two treys in the third quarter as the Lady Eagles took a 39-27 lead into the final period of play.
Kelly Mead scored four of Rockwood's eight points in the final period.
The final period featured little offense either way as Oakdale went on to the 13-point victory.
Besides Kilby, McGill (13 points, 8 assists) and Marissa Redmon (8 points, 12 rebounds) put up solid numbers for Oakdale.
Napier paced Rockwood with 14 points while Shaley Grant and Kiley Gunter led the Lady Tigers with six rebounds each.

Rockwood started strong Friday as the Tigers scored eight of the game's first 10 points and they would lead 10-5 after eight minutes of play.
Things didn't change much in the second period as Oakdale outscored Rockwood 9-8 in the frame to pull within 18-14 at halftime.
Cameron Webster led Rockwood with six points in the first half while Oakdale's Tee Steinmetz led all scorers with seven points.
The third quarter would see Rockwood get six points from Brendan Kirkland in building their lead to 27-20 midway through the period, but Oakdale responded with an 8-0 run to briefly take a 28-27 lead.
Rockwood, however, scored the final basket of the third period then Cleveland Davidson took over in the final frame. Davidson scored just three points in the first three periods of play, but he opened the fourth quarter with a pair of three-pointers that sparked a 10-0 run to give the Tigers a 39-28 lead.
Davidson scored a total of 13 points in the frame as Rockwood held off any late Oakdale comeback attempts.
Davidson led all scorers on the night with 16 points and five rebounds. Kirkland (10 points, 5 boards, 3 blocks), Webster (8 points, 7 boards) and Riley Clem (5 assists, 3 steals) all put up big numbers in the win.
