For three periods of play, the Rockwood Lady Tigers held pace with the Wartburg Central Lady Bulldogs, but a 5-1 three-point shooting deficit helped the Lady Bulldogs pick up a 42-30 win.
Early in the game, Wartburg suffered a crucial loss when Sarah Davidson went down with an ankle injury, but Wartburg clung to a 9-7 lead after one period.
In the second period, Wartburg stretched the lead to 17-9 before Rockwood battled back to make the halftime score 17-14.
The Lady Bulldogs added a point to their lead at the end of the third period with a 26-22 lead going down the stretch.
Wartburg had a 16-6 tilt at one point before Rockwood scored the final basket of the game to make the score 42-30.
Rockwood had a 34-26 edge on the boards and had an 11-8 advantage in team steals.
Wartburg Central was led in scoring by Kellie Kidd (14 points), Courtney Collins (8 points) and Madison Laughter (7 points, 7 boards).
Rockwood was led on offense by Reanna Henderson (11 points), Allison Breazeale (6 points, 7 boards) and Kiley Gunter (10 boards).

The Rockwood Tigers put together a fine effort, but fell just short of defeating the Wartburg Monday night as the Bulldogs held on for a 56-54 victory.
Wartburg had a 12-5 surge in the opening period and stretched the lead to 21-13 at halftime in a game played at a pace enjoyed by the Tigers.
Rockwood managed to get within 34-31 at the end of the third period and managed to tie the game at one point in the final period before falling by a 56-54 tally.
Wartburg was led by Zach Shannon (15 points, 5 boards), and Cody Goodman (14 points, 5 steals).
Alex Fountain (8 boards) also played well in the win.
Rockwood was led in defeat by Cleveland Davidson (20 points), Jared Breazeale (8 points), Cameron Webster (7 points, 6 boards), and Harold Huffman (6 points, 10 boards).
Brendan Kirkland (6 boards) and Riley Clem (5 boards) each played well in the loss.
