Rockwood teams defeat BCS

Girls Game

For the Rockwood Lady Tigers, their showdown with the Berean Christian School Lady Eagles was a lop-sided affair, with the Lady Tigers taking a 76-38 win last Tuesday evening. Rockwood started the game on a 9-0 run before Berean Christian closed to within 11-9. But the Lady Tigers closed out the opening period strong, taking a 17-9 lead.

Rockwood used runs of 13-4 and 12-5 in the second period to take a 42-18 lead going to the locker room. Rockwood expanded their lead to two points at the end of the third period with the score at 57-31.

After Berean scored the first three points of the final period, the Lady Tigers closed out the game with a 19-4 run to take the 76-38 win.

Rockwood had an over-whelming 44-15 advantage in rebounds and a 22-9 tilt in steals. Jade Napier (18 points) led the Lady Tigers with Samantha Freels (9 points, 5 boards), Allison Breazeale (8 points), Shaley Grant (8 points), Kiley Gunter (7 points, 11 boards, 7 assists) and Kellie Mead (6 points) all playing well in the victory. Berean Christian was led in scoring by Mikayla Gregg (19 points) and Caroline Graybear (12 points).

Boys Game

For three periods, the Rockwood Tigers were in a battle with a scrappy Berean Christian Eagles squad, but thanks to an 11-0 run to close out the game, the Tigers emerged with a 61-45 win over the Eagles.     Berean Christian took the lead at the end of the first period 13-11, but had the lead cut to 24-23 at halftime. Rockood used a 10-4 run at one point in the third period to take a 38-36 lead. But down the stretch, the Tigers scored the last 11 points of the game to take the win.

Rockwood had a 37-30 edge in rebounding and an 8-4 advantage in team steals.

Rockwood was led in scoring by Brendan Kirkland (15 points, 12 rebounds), Cleveland Davidson (14 points, 6 assists), and Josh Boles (12 points, 9 rebounds). Berean was led in scoring by Jacob Rechenbach (14 points, 9 rebounds), Michael Wilson (10 points), Bradley Sewell (7 points, 7 boards), and Andrew Mee (7 points). Nathan Diambra (5 rebounds) also played well in the loss for the Eagles.
