The Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers picked up a sweep Thursday night when they knocked off the visiting Sunbright Tigers at Dr. Tom W. Evans Gymnasium.
Rockwood had an easy time in the girls game as Amy Breazeale’s squad cruised to a 52-33 victory. The boys game was much tougher as Paul Kamikawa’s squad needed overtime to pick up a 54-49 victory.
Rockwood plays another Morgan County opponent Monday when the Tigers travel to Oakdale.
The Lady Tigers took the lead early and never looked back against Sunbright.
Rockwood led just 11-7 after eight minutes of play, but the Lady Tigers used a 15-5 advantage in the second period to take a 26-12 lead at halftime. Rockwood added five more points to their lead in the third period before taking their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter.
Jade Napier (14 points) and Reanna Henderson (10 points) led Rockwood on the night while Sarah Sexton scored 12 points for Sunbright.

The Rockwood Tigers saved their best for last Thursday night as they rallied from eight points down entering the final period to win in overtime, 54-49.
Three-pointers played a big part in Rockwood’s victory as Cleveland Davidson and Jared Breazeale combined to bury seven jumpers from beyond the arc. Breazeale dialed long distance four times and scored 16 points while Davidson hit three tripled and scored a game-high 25 points.
Despite the hot shooting, Rockwood trailed 20-15 at halftime and 36-28 entering the fourth quarter. Rockwood, however, outscored Sunbright 15-7 in the final period and 11-6 in overtime to secure the victory.
