'Round Rockwood: Sept. 24

-A A +A
By Josephine McKinney

Jessica Torris and Casady Williams visited me for a nice little visit. Shannon Money visited me also while they were here.

Visiting me also were Mr. and Mrs. Jeff McKinney and family, Nathan, Abby and Ben McKinney. They have returned to their home in Georgia.

I called my friend Wanda Manning, and we had a good long visit over the phone. She is 95 years old and I'm 90, and we have known each other a long time, so we had plenty to talk about. She said her two daughters live too far to come see her often. One lives in Murfreesboro and one in Texas, the biggest state in the whole U.S.A.

Our son Steven and Bonnie brought me a big bouquet of red knock out roses. They will last and bloom in their yard until late summer. I love roses, they are my favorite flower and red roses are my favorite.

I was proud to have visitors this afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson of Harriman. He ran the Roane Farmers Co-op in Midtown for many years. My late husband, Eugene,  had run the Co-op for 40 years before that. It is a thriving business in Roane and Loudon counties.

We are proud to have had rain. This has been a long, hot dry summer.

The Hinkle Family came and entertained the residents of Victorian Square with Bluegrass music on Thursday of last week.

I have found a friend from Wartburg, Kathy Hamby. She does a real good job housecleaning here at Victorian Square.

It’s good for several residents who are disabled to get their meals brought to their rooms.

Trevor Watt of Sharkesburg, Fla., visited his son Wyatt.

While here, he visited other friends.

We extend get-well wishes to Nancy Chovan.

Kay Lamb was surprised when the Red Hat group of Rockwood came to have lunch with her.

Ruby Elllison has moved from Harriman Gardens to Victorian Square Thursday.

Nina Swafford and Carrie Dukes of Crossville visited me Thursday. Carrie brought her new baby, Ava Marie, to see me, her great-grandma. Ava Marie is a beautiful 3-week-old baby.

Haley Young is a Rockwood Rams football team cheerleader this year. Go Rams!
