Where is the honor and respect in regard to our politics?
Some hateful garbage is being said on TV between the two parties.
We need another George Washington for president.
The leadership of both parties need to read George Washington’s Rules of Civility, a list of principles by which, supposedly, proper decent people must abide.
Washington believed that a gentleman is someone who makes others comfortable, that good manners are simply a matter of common sense and courtesy.
The Rules represented small sacrifices that everyone should be willing to make for the good of community and the sake of living together.
The initial Rules of Civility included guidelines for behavior and pleasant company, appropriate actions in formal situations.
Washington carried the Rules with him for the rest of his life.
Mason Locke Weems got it right when he wrote in his biography of the first president that it was “no wonder everybody honoured him who honoured everybody.”
We, the people, should be outraged with the behavior of the two parties this presidential race.
The candidates need us to give them back their jobs.
They need their cars, houses, donations and their health care, for they cannot survive on a regular job.
They will lie and say anything to be elected — they care not for facts.
