Season ends for area all-stars

The 2013 Dixie Youth seasons came to a close over the weekend for the Harriman “O” Zone All-Stars and Kingston A All-Stars.


Harriman’s season ended Friday with a loss to Greenback in the District 8 “O” Zone Tournament in Spring City. The Blue Devils finished third overall while Greenback defeated Madisonville in the championship game.
Greenback and Madisonville will both play this weekend in the Dixie Youth “O” Zone State Tournament in Dyersburg.
Kingston’s season ended Friday night in the Dixie Youth A State Tournament in Jackson. The Jackets picked up one win in the tourney against Wayne County and finished ninth overall.
Kingston’s losses came against Signal Mountain and Crockett County.
Sweetwater also represented District 8 at the state tournament and finished tied for ninth with Kingston.
Summertown went on to win the Dixie Youth A State Tournament.
Jackson also hosted the Dixie Youth AA State Tournament. Crockett County won the championship with Sweetwater (5th) and Tellico Plains (9th) representing District 8.
One Roane County Dixie Youth team is still alive and that’s the Rockwood AA All-Stars. The Tigers are hosting the Dixie Youth Region I World Series that begins next Friday. Rockwood will take on the South Carolina State runner-up in opening round action.
