A state appeals court has decreased the sentence of a man convicted of murder in Roane County by five years.
David Cosgriff, 68, was accused of killing Kathleen Taylor. The 76-year-old Harriman woman’s remains were discovered in a rural area of the county in December 2003.
Cosgriff was tried in July 2009 and found guilty of second-degree murder and theft over $1,000.
Criminal Court Judge E. Eugene Eblen found that Taylor was particularly vulnerable due to her age and enhanced the second-degree murder sentence from 15 to 20 years.
