Accused murderer Shawn Smoot was arrested Tuesday morning in McMinn County.
He’s charged with DUI, resisting arrest and violation of implied consent.
Smoot also is charged in Roane County Criminal Court with first-degree murder in the death of Brooke Nicole Morris.
Her body was found at the intersection of Blair Road and Old Blair Road on Oct. 15, 2011. Police said she had been shot.
Smoot, 42, was indicted for first-degree murder by the Roane County grand jury on June 18, 2012. He’s currently out on bond in the murder case, which is set for trial in July.
The McMinn County charges could affect Smoot’s bond.
“We are getting copies of the warrants to evaluate for possible bond revocation action,” District Attorney General Russell Johnson said.
Assistant District Attorney General Bill Reedy filed a motion last year to revoke Smoot’s bond after a woman accused him of stalking.
Kimberly N. Isenberg was granted a temporary order of protection against Smoot in Knox County Circuit Court in November.
“I fear that Shawn is stalking me, and I am afraid,” Isenberg said in Knox County court documents.
Reedy’s motion to revoke Smoot’s bond in the Roane County case was never heard because he said Isenberg declined to cooperate with authorities here.
