Next year, the county will open up a new 172-bed jail on Third Street in Kingston.
Officials are now trying to figure out how many more employees the sheriff’s office will need to run the facility.
Sheriff Jack Stockton told members of the Sheriff’s Liaison Committee this week that he could need an additional 20 to 25 employees.
“We need to be able to justify why we’re looking at that many more people,” Commissioner David Currier said.
