The Tennessee Solar Institute will conduct a workshop in Knoxville this week for its second round of Solar Innovation Grants.

The workshop will be from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 6 on the University of Tennessee campus in University Center Room 225 at 1502 W. Cumberland Ave.

The workshop is designed to walk potential grant applicants through the Solar Innovation Grant application process.

TSI staff will be available to answer questions applicants may have as they prepare a proposal for submission.

The institute is offering grants to businesses for solar innovation projects that encourage the development of the solar industry in the state.

Grants are available to qualifying Tennessee solar industry firms seeking financial assistance to help strengthen their offerings to the solar industry and improve energy efficiency in their place of operations.

Eligible applicants include qualified for-profit firms working in or seeking to expand business in the solar industry in Tennessee.

To apply, a business must submit a proposal defining how grant funds will be used to advance the solar industry through various process improvements and/or training opportunities.

TSI will accept proposals for grant funding for technical assistance, workforce development, renewable energy products integration, process improvements, technology improvements, and facilities and equipment improvements.

The workshop is free; preregistration is required by e-mailing cdavi105@tennessee.edu.

Grant applications are due to the Tennessee Solar Institute no later than 6 p.m. Jan. 20.
