A man sought help from authorities on Dec. 15 after his son reportedly poured gas on the house and threatened to burn it down.
Deputies with the Roane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home on 1678 Old Harriman Hwy.
Dispatch told the Blair Volunteer Fire Department to be on standby “in case it goes bad.” The fire department was later told they could stand down.
Michael Allen Brown, 34, was arrested and charged with domestic assault, criminal attempt and vandalism.

Concern has been expressed about a sex offender being at the Rockwood Community Center.
Keith Wesley Payne of 116 Woodlane Drive is on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. He has a conviction for statutory rape.
According to a Rockwood Police report, Mike Reed with the parks and recreation department called Police Chief Bill Stinnett on Dec. 11 to notify him that Payne was at the community center with a relative, whom the report said was there playing basketball.
Lynda Carter with the Roane County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.
According to the report, Carter advised police that Payne could be at the community center if the relative was participating in an activity.
“Contact was made with Reed and (he) was told that as of right now, Payne could be at the functions” in which the relative was participating, the report said.

On Dec. 10 several Rockwood residents reported having their tires slashed.
The victims lived on West Wheeler Street, North Wilder Avenue, West Eblen Street and Hewitt Street.
“Upon looking at tires, it appeared that a knife was used on both of the tires creating an approximately one-inch incision,” the report on the West Eblen Street tire slashing said.
The resident there requested extra patrols.

A man reported being assaulted and robbed at his home on Dec. 9.
According to a Roane County Sheriff’s Office offense report, Collon Turner of 234 Clear Springs Road heard a knock at the back door.
“Complainant states he thought it was his neighbor, so he opened the door,” the report said.
Instead he encountered two men wearing ski mask.
“Complainant told officer they demanded cash and then struck him with a gun in the head,” the report said.
“Complainant states they took $65, two of his guns and a jewelry box.”
Turner said he was tied up and had to use a knife to cut through rope to free himself after the robbers left.
