The Tams headlining Education Foundation fundraiser on May 9

-A A +A

The Roane County school system has asked the newly formed Education Foundation to help fund three important projects for students.

The school system is looking to expand its successful robotics programs to all county high schools.

It also is seeking to assist with supporting ACT prep classes at all county high schools and to improve and expand existing security systems in all our county schools.

The Foundation is working toward those goals with a May 9 fundraiser beginning with a tent/block party from 6 to 7:45 p.m. between the parking lots of Chase Drugs and the former Roane Medical Center in downtown Harriman.

Food and drinks will be available, with music and dancing by the Knoxville Shag Club.

The headlining event at 8 p.m. features The Tams in a return engagement to the Princess Theatre.

The all-inclusive price of $50 covers all of the event’s activities.

Tickets are available in Harriman at Chase Drugs and Rocky Top General Store; in Rockwood at Shelter Insurance and Beauty Designs; and in Kingston at the Roane County Board of Education building, AGA Insurance Inc. and Kingston Barber Shop.
