Elementary and middle-school teachers have until Sept. 21 to register to attend a free teacher workshop featuring hands-on activities for teaching space and geology.
The workshop, limited to 25 participants, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 in American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge.

The workshop includes instruction, materials for the classroom, and lunch.
During the geology session, activities will include the layers of the earth, their composition, depth, temperatures and their relation to minerals.
The space activities will focus on how the earth, sun, and moon cause day and night, years, tides and eclipses.

It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
