Tellico Plains roughs up Rockwood

Senior Night for the Rockwood Lady Tigers softball team ended on a sour note as the Lady Tigers dropped a 15-7 decision to the Tellico Plains Lady Bears.
The Lady Bears had an RBI double by Shaylyn Dicandio and a sacrifice RBI by Laney Lovin to take an early 2-0 lead.
Rockwood scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning when Chelsea Cheek and Kelsey Brackett each stole home.
Tellico Plains scored a trifecta of runs in the top of the second inning courtesy of a two-run double by Braden Garren and an RBI off of an error to make the score 5-2.
Tellico Plains stretched the lead to 6-2 on an RBI double by Hannah Burrell.
Rockwood got within 6-4 in the bottom of the third inning on Chelsea Cheek stealing home and Brackett driving in a sacrifice RBI.
Tellico Plains stretched the lead to 9-4 in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run double by Donna Farner and an RBI single by Tori McMinn.
The highlight of the fourth inning was a double play at home plate by Haley Yelton for Rockwood and Cheyenne Thompson at first base for the Lady Tigers.
Rockwood scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Tatum Penley and an RBI single by Becca Farmer.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Rockwood got within 9-7 on a sacrifice RBI by Hayley Turpin.
Tellico Plains would score four runs in the top of the sixth inning, half of them coming on a single by Jessi Parson, an RBI single by Shelby Granger, and an RBI triple by Farner to push the score to 13-7.
The Lady Bears pushed the final score to 15-7 in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Tori McMinn.
Tellico Plains' 19-hit parade was led by Jessi Parson (4-5, 1 2B, 4 RBI), Donna Farner (4-5, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI), Tori McMinn (3-4, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 walk), Haley Pittman (2-5), Shaylyn DiCandio (2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI), and Laney Lovin (2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI).
Parson (CG, 2 Ks, 4 walks, 7 hits) got credit for the win.
Rockwood was led in defeat by Tatum Penley (2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI) while Hayley Turpin (CG, 2 Ks, 5 walks) was tallied with the loss.
This was the final home game for Lady Tiger seniors Kelsey Brackett, Haley Yelton, Reanna Henderson, Tiffany Wilkey, and Savannah Brackett.
