'Testing, testing ... only a test'

Morgan County Director of Schools Mike Davis will be trying out a new messaging/notification system on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Morgan County Schools has adopted the Alertnow Notification Service that will allow school administrators to send a telephone or email message to parents sharing important information about school events or emergencies.

“Keeping our parents informed is a top priority that’s why we’ve adopted this system. This service will allow us to send a telephone or e-mail message to you providing important information about school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather, as well as remind you about various events including report card distribution, open house, field trips and more.”

Caller ID will display the school’s main number; Caller ID will display 411 if the message is a dire emergency; and Alertnow will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail.

A test of the system is scheduled for Thursday. The test message will come from Davis. Numbers provided on forms sent home with students are being used to implement the test. If you do not receive a call that means your current information is not in the school’s system.

You should contact your child’s school as soon as possible (after the test) to provide current contact information if you do not receive the call on Thursday at 6 p.m.
