From staff reports
The Michael Dunn Center wanted to say thank you.
And that’s what staff and consumers did last week, when they presented State Sen. Ken Yager a thank-you card for his help in sponsoring Lynn’s Law.
“I’m very appreciative of this card,” said Yager, R-Harriman. “It is very moving for me.
“This is what it’s all about.”
The law, signed this year, is named for 19 year-old Lynn Cameron, a developmentally disabled Illinois woman who was abandoned by her mother in a Caryville bar.
Unable to tell authorities who she was and how she got there, Lynn was left without identification and put into emergency care until she could be identified.
“This bill gives prosecutors the ability to prosecute this crime,” Yager said.
“It is imperative that we ensure that our most vulnerable citizens are protected from such dangerous action in the future. I am very pleased it has been signed into law.”
