SATURDAY, MARCH 10
• Master Gardeners of Roane County will present a full-day workshop that includes sessions on grafting science and technique, followed by hands-on grafting of apples trees with David Lockwood of the University of Tennessee. Sessions on soil fertility/sampling, growing vegetables from seed, square-foot gardening and raised-bed types and construction. Lunch will be served; a fee will be charged for workshop participation to cover costs. Space is limited; registration is required by calling 376-1370.
• Bowers Elementary School’s second annual Sham Walk/5k Run will be at the school at 120 Breazeale St., Harriman. The run starts at 9 a.m.; walkers will start at 9:15. Visit http://goo.gl/YYNwP to register.

• Roane Choral Society rehearsal will begin at 7 p.m. in the choral room of Roane State Community College’s main campus. All members are needed in preparation for the “April Love” program to be presented to the community on April 28. Prospective new members are welcome to visit and/or join at this time. SATURDAY, MARCH 17
• Run for Dunn 2012, a 5k run and 1-mile fun walk to raise funds for the Michael Dunn Center, will start at 9 a.m. at the center’s main campus at 629 Gallaher Road, Kingston; registration and check-in start at 8.
