The Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver license and safety belt roadside checkpoints next month in Roane County.

Three driver license checkpoints are planned. The first will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7 at Eagle Furnace and Winton Chapel roads.

Another will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 14 at Pumphouse Road and Arp Drive.

The final driver license checkpoint in Roane County will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 on Post Oak Valley Road at Daniels Trucking.

Roane County’s safety belt roadside checkpoint will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 6 on Interstate 40 at the 340 mile marker off ramp.

Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who would violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.

THP officials said they have found these driver license roadside safety checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing driver license laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of all motorists.
