Rockwood’s annual Thunder Road Festival and Car Show on April 5 promises to include fun for the entire family.
The festival, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Rockwood, will boast exhibits, concessions, classic cars competing for awards, crafters and live entertainment.
The Southern Star Band is one of this year’s headliners. The band has a repertoire that spans seven decades and encompasses many styles of music, including classic rock, oldies, Motown and country.
The band’s extensive playlist has made it a real crowd pleaser.
The Band Temper, one of the hottest up-and-coming acts in East Tennessee, returns to the festival where it got its start two years ago.
The Band Temper has a combined 20 years’ experience in playing music, making them a favorite in Knoxville and surrounding areas.
From Nashville, singer and songwriter Michael Tetrick will also be performing.

The Thunder Road Car Show will award the “best moonshine runner” car with a special-designed Moonshine Still Award.
Also given out will
be 37 places on the money tree, with cash and prizes worth more than $1,000.
Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 to register.
Car show awards will be announced at 3:30 p.m.
The show is open to any car model.
Enthusiasts are welcome to bring out their favorite ride and be a part of this Rockwood tradition.
Parts vendors are welcome to participate in the Parts Alley.
Thunder Road era pageant awards will be given to the best Mr. and Mrs. Moonshiner/Hillbilly outfit at 3:20 p.m. Those who want to participate should gather at the Domino’s stage at 3 p.m.
