A fast start led to an early ending Friday evening as the Rockwood Tigers ran their season record to 8-6 overall following an 11-1 victory over Sweetwater at the Mike “Brillo” Miller Sports Complex.

Rockwood took command early with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Riley Clem got the inning started with a single and he scored quickly on a double from Jared Breazeale.

The rest of the scoring came with the help of the Wildcats as Tavin Napier, Matt Cofer and Hunter Grant all reached on errors in the frame while Hayden Freels, Hunter Robbins and Christian Domon all drew walks that led to a Tiger 5-0 advantage after one inning of play.

The Tigers scored another run in the bottom of the second inning. Jared Breazeale walked to start the frame and he would score on a ground out from Robbins.

Sweetwater did score a run in the top of the third inning, but Rockwood got that run back and three more in the bottom of the frame.

Clem delivered the big blow of the inning with a three-run bomb to right field. Domon and Grant had singled and were on board when Clem homered.

Napier walked and scored the final run of the game on a wild pitch.

Rockwood ended the game early with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jared Breazeale walked and scored the game-ending run when Napier reached on an error.

Tyler McGill (3 IP, 2 hits, 1 K) and Jay Tilley (2 IP, 2 hits, 1 BB, 1 K) combined to shutdown the Wildcats on the day. McGill started and was credited with the win.

Clem (2-4, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 2 run) was the only Tiger player with multiple hits on the day.

Rockwood plays at Stone Memorial on Thursday.
