Tigers split with Meigs County in tennis action

The Rockwood Lady Tigers tennis team traveled to Meigs County last week and picked up an impressive 7-2 victory over the Lady Tigers from Decatur.

Rockwood won five of the six matches on the day in doubles while winning two out of three matches in doubles.

The closest match in singles came in the No. 1 match as Rockwood’s Alex Patterson edging Charity Parris, 9-7. Rockwood’s No. 4 Allison Frogg and No. 6 Allyson Holloway also won close matches by final scores of 8-6. Frogg defeated Brennah Patterson while Holloway beat Kaci Reiter.

Rockwood’s final two victories in singles came by identical scores of 8-4 with No. 3 Blayke Kelly beating Peyton Hampton, and Madison Mioduski knocking off Ida Scoggins.

Rockwood’s only loss in singles came as Meigs County’s Brea Tate beat Shelley Edwards, 8-3.

In doubles, the duo of Alex Patterson and Kelly picked up an 8-2 victory while Edwards and Frogg won their match by a final score of 8-5.

Meigs County won one match in doubles as Scoggins and Reiter beat Holloway and Jessica Shadden, 8-6.

Rockwood improves to 3-4 on the season with the victory.

Boys Match

Rockwood wasn’t as lucky in boy’s action as Meigs County won all seven matches played while adding two victories via forfeit.

The closest match in singles came as Meigs County’s C.J. McFalls beat Josh Spurling, 8-6.

Ryan Hamby, Caleb West, Tyler Wicks and Carson McCullough also competed in singles for Rockwood.

Hamby and West along with Wicks and Spurling hooked up in doubles. Both teams suffered losses.

Rockwood drops to 2-4 on the season with a loss.
