The Rockwood Tigers hosted the Tellico Plains Bears Tuesday night after a Monday night rain out between the two teams. A day off for rain didn't slow the Tigers, as they came out swinging and put on an offensive show, winning by a final score of 20-2.

The Bears first inning started out promising as they had runners at the corners with just one out, but Rockwood pitcher Hunter Grant set the next two batters down to choke off the Tellico Plains threat.

In the bottom of the inning, Grant led off with a single and the rest of the Tiger team followed suit as the Tigers put up 10 runs in the first. Tiger RBIs came off the bats of Grant, Hayden Freels, Jared Breazeale, Tavin Napier, Nathan Briley, Jordan Breazeale and Hunter Robbins.

The top of the second was not as promising for the Bears as Grant made quick work of the batters.

Once again the Tigers put on a hitting clinic in the bottom of the second rolling off another 10 runs on eight hits.

The Tigers cruised the rest of the game, giving up two runs in the top of the fourth.

The Tiger pitching finished the game giving up two run on four hits.

Rockwood finished the game with 20 runs on 21 hits.

Grant (3-4, 3 RBIs, 3 runs), Riley Clem (2-3, 1 2B, 2 RBIs, 3 runs), Jared Breazeale (2-2, 1 2B, 2 RBIs, 3 runs), Jordan Breazeale (2-2, 2 RBIs, 3 runs), Freels (2-3, 1 2B, 3 RBIs, 1 run), Matt Cofer (2-2, 1 RBI, 3 runs), and Tavin Napier (3-3, 1 2B, 3 RBIs, 1 run) all had multiple hits for Rockwood in the win.

Grant pitched four innings to get credit for the win.

Rockwood improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in District 3-A with the win.

The Tigers will be at Midway on Monday in another District 3-A contest. Rockwood hosts Midway on Tuesday.
