Goodyear in downtown Harriman is closed temporarily because of a fire that damaged part of the building in the wee hours Thursday morning.

Harriman Fire Chief Brad Goss said the fire was contained to the right side of the building.

“It was around about 4:30 a.m. when we got the page. It was in the office area and storage,” Goss said.

“It appears to have started in the upstairs like where you have storage,” he added.

Goss said there is some fire and smoke damage, but luckily the fire was kept to the office area.

He said it didn’t appear there was much damage to the structure itself.

“It didn’t get into the automobile bays where there is all the high-dollar equipment is,” Goss added.

“The guys did an excellent job of keeping the fire to that part of the building, keeping it away from the tires and away from the high-dollar equipment,” he said.
