Rockwood Vice Mayor Peggy Evans, center left, cuts the ribbon during officially opening Cole’s Health Essentials on South Front Avenue in downtown Rockwood. The ceremony, one of three for new downtown businesses, coincided with the Rockwood Fall Festival on Oct. 6. On hand for the Cole’s celebration are, from left, Pam Hamby, owner Linda Cole, Evans, Katie Barber, owner Ross Cole, Evan Lankford and Kim Griffin.
Evans, center right, also cuts the ribbon officially opening Wilderness Books and Gifts on West Rockwood Street, just around the corner from Cole’s. Participating in that celebration are, from left, Ross and Linda Cole, owner the Rev. Sherry Powell, Evans, owner the Rev. Dennis Powell and John Evans of Rockwood’s Main Street program. John Evans’ business, The Evans Agency, neighbors both new businesses. The store has a casual atmosphere where visitors can receive prayer and relax with coffee. Church services start at 11 a.m. each Sunday.
The third business the vice mayor, third from right, welcomes to Rockwood with a snip of the shears is The Shop, a full-service salon and gift shop next door to Wilderness Christian Books and Gifts on West Rockwood Street. Participating are, from left, the Powells, Ross Cole, owner Amanda Golliher, Carson Wicks, Peggy Evans, Linda Cole and John Evans.
