An Illinois woman has filed a paternity suit against Property Assessor David Morgan in Roane County Circuit Court.

Melissa Everts contends Morgan is the father of her 16-year-old son. The suit included a Jan. 15, 2003, parentage testing report.
“The tested man, David L. Morgan, is not excluded as the biological father of the child ... because they share genetic information that can only be transmitted from father to child,” the report said. “Based upon genetic testing results obtained by DNA analysis, the probability of paternity is 99.9983 percent as compared to an untested, random man of the North American Caucasian population.”
A summons has been issued instructing Morgan to appear in court on Dec. 11.
The summons said he must bring with him proof of income.
Morgan makes $73,825 a year as property assessor. He had no comment about the suit.
Everts is requesting current child support, retroactive child support, costs and fees.

Morgan was 27 and Everts was 16 when the child was conceived. The District Attorney General's Office called that “statutory rape,” but said Morgan will not face prosecution because the statute of limitations has expired.
