VECustomers Share board member Barry Narramore, second from left, presents a $1,000 grant check to Operation REACH representatives, from left, Carolyn Granger, Bobby Collier and Peggy Collier. The grant was among $2,500 disbursed in September to Roane County charitable organizations by Volunteer Energy Cooperative’s VECustomers Share program. Midway Elementary School Accelerated Reader Club, Midway Youth League and Midway High School PTO each received $500 grants. Founded in October 2001, VECustomers Share has donated more than $4.6 million to community-service organizations in Volunteer Energy’s 17-county service area. The foundation’s funds come from Volunteer Energy members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next whole dollar. Grant applications are available at any Volunteer Energy Cooperative Customer Service center, by calling 423-334-7051, or at www.vec.org.
