VECustomers Share Board Member Alton Lingerfelt, center, presents a $1,500 grant check to Bobby Collier and Peggy Collier of Operation REACH. VECustomers Share is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization covering Volunteer Energy Cooperative’s 17-county service area. The foundation’s funds come from Volunteer Energy members, who have opted to allow the cooperative to round up their electric bills to the next whole dollar, with the foundation receiving the extra money.
Lingerfelt presents a $1,000 grant check to Erna Tipps of the Luminary United Methodist Church Men’s Group Bleacher Project. The Midway Golf Boosters also received a $200 grant from VECustomers Share. The program, founded in October 2001, has donated more than $3.5 million to various community-service organizations. Grant applications are available at any Volunteer Energy Cooperative Customer Service center, by calling 423-334-7051, or at www.vec.org.
