Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center decided to celebrate veterans early this year.
Instead of adding to the events planned for Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, the center has scheduled its event Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“This is for the community and the ones here,” said Connie Sheldon, quality of life director. “The residents are the ones that came up with this.”
Speakers will include Brian Murphy, who once guarded for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The event will also include a World War II plane display and inflatables for the children.
Gold Star Women, an organization of mothers who have lost their children while in armed service, and the local VFWs will cook lunch.
For more information, contact Sheldon at 882-9159. Harriman Care and Rehab is at 240 Hannah Road.
