Wilma Allene McCormick

-A A +A

Wilma Allene McCormick of Harriman went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Methodist Medical Center after an extended illness.

She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Oakdale. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord and her family, like Joel 1:3. She was passionate that the gospel be passed to her daughter, granddaughter and even great-grandchildren and to the many she taught in Sunday school and Bible schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Grace Allred; a brother, Willard Allred; a sister and brother-in-law, Ollene and James Hayes; and several infant brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John McCormick; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Mayon; two sisters, Orba Allred and Clata Perry; a brother, Gene Allred; two granddaughters, Christy Harrison and husband Tony, and Claudia Baber and husband Chris; four grandchildren: Tyler and David Gresham, Emma Baber and Madie Harrison; and two additional great-granddaughters by marriage, Kaylyn Hayes and Savanna Harrison.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral services followed at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Wayne Burnett and Bro. Vic Davis officiating. Family and friends will meet at Swan Pond Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, for the graveside services.
