The Cherokee Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets played their final game before Christmas Tuesday by splitting a pair of games with North.
The first game of the evening was full of drama as the Lady Jackets picked up a 41-40 victory in overtime. The nightcap game featured little drama as the Stars cruised to a 43-26 victory.
Forget about the PBS show "Downtown Abbey", Cherokee has "Downtown Abby", as Abby Wilson’s 13 points helped the Lady Jackets rally from a 12-point deficit at one point in the third period to get a 31-30 overtime win over the Lady Stars.
North started the game on an 8-0 run before Cherokee cut the lead down to 8-4 at the end of the first period. The Lady Stars then soared to a 14-6 halftime lead.
That lead got as big as 22-10 in the third, but those Lady Jackets came swarming back into contention on the strength of a 10-0 tilt to close out period number three to pull to within 22-20.
Cherokee managed to tie the game at 28-28 at the end of regulation on the strength of Rachael Baggett hitting two free-throws with 11.1 seconds left in regulation.
In overtime, Cherokee scored three points to eke out the 31-30 win.
Abby Wilson (13 points, 6 boards), Kaylee Wilson (8 points), and Baggett (6 points, 7 boards) led the way for Cherokee on the evening.

The North Middle Stars were never really challenged in a dominating 43-26 victory over Cherokee Tuesday night.
North took the early 10-6 lead at the end of the first period and from there, the Stars were shining brightly, expanding the halftime lead to 22-10 and the lead at the end of the third period to 39-13.
Cherokee, in the final period used a 13-4 surge to close the deficit down to a respectable 43-26 margin. John Walden (6 points) led the Jackets in scoring.
