Roane/Loudon County USDA Farm Service Agency will begin enrollments on Nov. 14 for Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments program for 2010 crop year losses.
“Producers across the state experienced several natural disasters during the 2010 crop year that caused hardship and financial losses to many agricultural operations,” said Nancy H. Brackett, Roane/Loudon County USDA Farm Service Agency executive director.
Roane Countians have a chance to bring home a victory for Tennessee in Medic Regional Blood Center’s 24th annual Battle of the Orange and Blue.
This blood-drive competition between Tennessee and Kentucky to see which fan base can bring in the most blood donations prior to the annual gridiron matchup between the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
“The battle of Tennessee vs. Kentucky is not just on the football field,” said Vols head football coach Derek Dooley.
The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer bell ringers for its annual holiday red-kettle campaign.
“We do not pay people to ring bells; we rely on volunteers who want to help us help others,” said Marie Ruby of the Roane County Salvation Army. “There are so many people hurting these days, and the demand for our services is greater than ever.”
