The public was given a sampling of spring a few weeks ago with Kingston Rotary Club’s pancake breakfast.
Now it’s time for the second part, with Kingston Lions Club’s annual “spring social” pancake breakfast on April 6.
“This is the time of year that all old friends gather for fellowship and food at the Kingston First Baptist Church family center,” said Martin Skinner of the Kingston Lions Club. “Friends see friends whom they have not seen since a year ago.”
One says that Jesus commanded a palm tree to bend down so He could pick dates for his mother, and He promised to bless it. When He entered Jerusalem in triumph, it was a palm branch in His hand as the people cried, “Hosannah.”
As we come to the observance of Palm Sunday with its jubilant atmosphere of “Hosannah and welcome,” it is interesting to note that the waving of palm branches in processions is a custom of great antiquity and significance.
