Despite the challenges of the recession, Tennessee has achieved a state best in the National Kids Count Data Book’s ranking on child well-being.
Its ranking, 39th in the nation, is its best ever. The ranking was included in a recently released report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The book also looks at how children have been affected by the recession.

The Tennessee State High School Athletic Association passed the no-pass, no-play rule, without setting a date for it to go into effect. Students would be permitted to participate in extracurricular sports only if they passed five out of six of their courses.
