Officials studied possible ramifications of an error in a city charter amendment voted on in the Kingston city election. The amendment would change the dates for municipal elections. According to city attorney Sandy McPherson, the typographical error was made in drafting the proposed charter change in the form of a question. The date was correct in the bill that was sent to Nashville.

Newly elected Harriman Mayor Jerry Davis appointed Clayton Isham, 24, as police chief and called a meeting of the police department to discuss other changes. Davis did away with the assistant chief and investigator positions; instead, the department had a police chief and three shift supervisors.

We've had several visitors recently: Steven and Bonnie McKinney of Rockwood, and Sharon, Jeff and Kayla McCarroll of Lenoir City.
We extend get-well wishes to Linda Gamble of Harriman, Jo Smith and Nancy Chavas of Rockwood.
Jeff McCarroll and David McKinney have returned from a trip to Sacramento, Calif. They also went up the coast to Washington and Oregon and back through Nevada and Utah, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dako-ta.
Sunday First Christian Community Church had its annual Family and Friends Day.
Guest church for the afternoon service was St. Mary's Baptist Church. The preached word was done by Pastor Jesse L. Williams Sr. Music was by the Gospel Chorus and the devotion was done by the Deacons. Upon our arrival a delicious lunch was prepared for us.
The service was enjoyed by all.
