TVA recently made a $1,500 donation to Michael Dunn Center to support people with intellectual disabilities who are served in and around Roane County.
TVA Valley Relations Manager Bert Robinson visited the Michael Dunn Center campus and toured some of the programs provided by Michael Dunn Center to people with disabilities.
“The work being done by Michael Dunn Center to support people with disabilities is amazing,” he said.
Larry Kelly, manager of the U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge Office, will be the guest speaker for this week’s joint meeting of two Oak Ridge preservation groups.
The meeting of the Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association and the Advocates for the Oak Ridge Reservation will be on Jan. 10 in Midtown Community Center, Oak Ridge.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
Kelly will discuss managing resources on the Oak Ridge Reservation in a changing environment.
Kwayu Graham, a former coach at Austin East High School in Knoxville, left there to take a head coaching job in Lexington, N.C.
The Carolina Panthers High School Coach of the Week program recognizes high school coaches who, through their hard work and dedication to young people, have made a difference in the lives of their players’ high school and community.
Kwayu, head coach at Lexington Senior High School, was selected as this season’s second 2012 Coach of the Week.
Christmas was really a great day for Julia Harris.
Her children from Nashville and Knoxville came home to spend this day with her and their sister, Alicia Harris.
Her children are Tabby Tayler and her son Jalen; Jeff Harris, his wife, Silvia, and their daughters, Courtney and Chelsea; Kristie and Malachi and their three children; and Sybil, her husband Tony Cannon, and their two children.
They enjoyed a delicious meal with all the trimmings. Afterward, gifts were opened and all were more than happy for what they received.

Mason made the decision on his own to find a box and collect money from his family, neighbors and friends, and his parents drove him to the Anderson County Red Cross office on Dec. 21 to drop off the $19.05 he collected.
Medic Regional Blood Center hopes that blood donation is on top of the list for New Year’s Resolutions.
“If all donors gave just one more donation per year, our area would rarely experience a blood shortage,” said Christi Fightmaster, Medic’s director of public relations.
Medic is the sole provider of blood for 21 counties and 27 area hospitals throughout the greater East Tennessee region.
