An eight-hour AARP driver safety class in Roane County next month offers area senior citizens a refresher course on driving and an update on rules of the road.
The new two-day AARP Smart Driver course will be from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18-19 in Kingston Community Center.
The course has been updated from those previously taught.
Course participants will be taught to adjust to age-related physical changes; reduce incidents of violations and accidents; and update driving skills and rules of the road in a stress-free environment.
In carrying out its mission of encouraging informed and active participation in government and in preparation for the Aug. 7 Roane County General Election, the Oak Ridge League of Woman Voters will have a candidate forum next week.
The forum, at 7 p.m. July 22 in the City Room, A111, on the Oak Ridge campus of Roane State Community College at 701 Briarcliff Ave., is free and open to the public.
