The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Lifestar Aeromedical Services plans to open a base in Rockwood later in the summer.
The facility will be at Rockwood Municipal Airport at 258 Rockwood Airport Drive.
Last month, Lifestar reached an agreement with Air Evac EMS Inc. to assume responsibility for medical operations of Air Evac Lifeteam in Etowah.
Lifestar also operates a facility in Sweetwater.
The Rockwood base will be staffed by one of the teams from the Etowah/Sweetwater facilities.

Classes will be from 3 to 5 p.m. each Tuesday starting May 26 in the Roane County University of Tennessee Extension Office at 3074 Roane State Hwy., Midtown.
Roane State Community College’s main campus in Roane County will be closed on May
The campus will be closed while the water line that supplies the campus is under repair.
During the repairs, water to the campus will be shut off.
All other Roane State locations will be open and on schedule.
Two classes in session on May 27 have been relocated to the Princess Theatre and to Channel 15 television station in downtown Harriman.
The main campus will reopen on May 28.
For the first time in more than 100 days, the year-over-year difference in the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline fell below $1 per gallon on May 12.
Sunday’s price of $2.70 per gallon represents a new high for 2015. The national average has moved higher by 4 cents per gallon since last Sunday.
Tennessee’s average price — $2.46 per gallon — is the highest since Dec. 10, 2014.
The East Tennessee Human Resource Agency administers the Housing Choice Voucher Program in Roane and 15 other East Tennessee counties.
Funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the program provides up to 784 vouchers to help families obtain safe, decent housing at an affordable price.
Homes must be inspected and meet HUD housing quality standards.
The rental subsidy is based on each family’s income and is paid directly to the landlord.
Roane County resident Tim Frady has recently released a new book, “Never Quit: The Back to Basics Fitness Guide,” available on Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle versions.
Frady said his book focuses on relearning the basics that people know intuitively but consciously fail to remember or practice in their daily lives.
“The book’s fitness program begins with a person’s mental and spiritual outlook before going into details about diet and exercise,” he said.
Swimming lessons roll into high gear next month, and Rockwood Community Center is scheduling both morning and evening sessions.
The two-week swimming lessons will be June 8-19 and July 6-17 at the Community Center pool.
Lessons are $25 per two-week session.
Morning lessons will be from 11 to noon; evening lessons will be from 6:30 to 7:30.

UT Extension and Roane County Health Department are partnering to offer two great opportunities to learn about diabetes management as a caregiver or a diabetic.
Diabetes education is important, as almost 11 percent of Tennesseans are diagnosed with the condition, according to The Centers for Disease Control.
This partnership is built so that Roane County residents can learn how to manage their conditions through research based materials.
