Three nights of revival were held at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Midtown.

Allen Hickman has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, an international academic organization for two-year colleges and institutions. In order to be eligible for membership a student must maintain a grade-point average of at least a 3.5. Congratulations, Allen.
Beta Alpha Chi, Roane State Community College's chapter of The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, donated 100 Beanie Babies to the Rockwood Police Department for officers to distribute to children.
Police answer many calls involving children, with situations including domestic violence, child abuse and fires.
“We feel like it is important the police have these Beanie Babies to hand out when children are caught in the midst of a scary event,” said Nikki Smith, a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
The largest unit in the Tennessee National Guard will have a new commander after ceremonies on April 14.
The ceremonies, starting at 1 p.m. at the West High School Football Stadium, 3326 Sutherland Ave., Knoxville, will kick off Col. Darrell D. Darnbush’s command of Tennessee’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
The Rockwood National Guard Armory is part of the 278th, which has been commanded by Col. Frank C. McCauley since May 2011.
Professional wrestlers from the Allied Wrestling Federation will have a special fundraising show April 13 with proceeds going to Roane County Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.
Tickets are $5 for VIPs, $3 for general admission to the 7 p.m. show in Roane State Community College gymnasium on the main campus in Roane County. They will go on sale starting at 4:30 the day of the show.
Kingston Mayor Troy Beets was elected vice chairman of East Tennessee Human Resource Agency and East Tennessee Development District during the agencies’ annual meetings in Knoxville.
Beets, elected by unanimous consent of the board, will take office on July 1.
Other officers elected by unanimous consent during the meeting in Rothchild’s Conference Center were Chairwoman Estelle Herron, Loudon County Mayor; Secretary Bill Brittain, Hamblen County Mayor; and Treasurer Jeff Tibbals, Scott County Mayor.
