Now through Labor Day, all blood donors to Medic Regional Blood Center will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich and a chance to win a pair of tickets good for any regular season Tennessee Smokies home baseball game.
“The summer is a difficult time for us,” said Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokeswoman.
Blood donations tend to decline during the summer months for many reasons, Fightmaster said.
Roane County farmers are reminded that June 1 is the deadline for Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments, the Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program and the Average Crop Revenue Election Program.
“It is crucial that producers meet the deadline for these programs in order to receive disaster and income support,” said Linda R. Tipton, Roane/Loudon County USDA Farm Service Agency acting executive director.

Candidates for Harriman City Council faced two main issues: attracting new industry and dealing with sewer-rate increases. The average residential sewer bill was scheduled to increase 60 percent and commercial rates by more than 100 percent to fund the state-ordered construction of a new wastewater treatment facility.
