  • Woods marks 94th birthday

    Hazel Ellis Woods, far right, celebrated her 94th birthday with 56 family members and friends on Aug. 2 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Boyd Woody.

    Among the guests were her three surviving siblings from a family of 10 children.

    The siblings include, from left, Lillie Glavich, 92, of Dade City, Fla.; C.V. Terry, 84, of Clinton; J.B. Terry, 90, of Huntsville; and Woods.

  • Keel-Leslie

    Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Joe Keel of Tuscaloosa, Ala., announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hannah Catherine Keel, to Aaron Samuel Leslie.

    He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel M. Leslie of Kingston.

    The ceremony will be on Sept. 7 at Sunny Acres Farm in Louisville, Ky.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Keel of Dothan, Ala., and the late William Henry Burge and Mary Evelyn Huckabee Burge of Linden, Ala.

  • Anna Mae Moore

    Anna Mae Moore was born at 2:52 a.m. Aug. 5 in University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville.

    She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

    She is the daughter of Andrew and Morgan Moore of Kingston.

    Grandparents are Bill and Bernice Koprince of Knoxville, and Curtis and Debbie Moore of Kingston.

    Great-grandparents are Nancy Moore and Nathan Hickey.

    Anna Mae has an older brother, 2-year-old Billy.

  • Mr. & Mrs. Lawson 50th

    Richard and Sarah Lawson of Oliver Springs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this week.

    The couple was married on Aug. 1, 1964.

    The Lawsons’ family includes Michael, Tina, Chris, John, Jared, Summer, Anna, Josh, Rusty “Lil’ Man” and five cats.

    “We love you and celebrate these wonderful 50 years with you,” family members said. “You are very very important to each and every one of us.”

    He celebrated on July 26 with a camo/blue-themed party.

    He is the son of Travis Garrison and Whitney Garrison, both of Kingston.

    Kaydan has a 14-year-old brother, Cody Garrison.

    Robert Ramsey of Rockwood announces the engagement and forthcoming marriage of his daughter, Denise Ramsey, to Jerry Slaven Jr.

    He is the son of Linda Slaven and the late Jerry Slaven of Rockwood.

    The ceremony will be on Aug. 2 in If I Be Lifted Up Church, Rockwood. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

    All relatives and friends of the couple are invited to attend.

    The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Nora Ramsey of Rockwood.

    Harlem Shane Scarbro was born at 3:22 p.m. May 4 in Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville.

    He weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 18 1/2 inches long.

    He is the son of Hannah Davis and Shane Scarbro of Harriman.

    Grandparents are Dorothy Guy of Rockwood, and Jean Scarbro of Harriman.

    Great-grandparents are Betty Steele and Josephine Duncan.

  • Josiah Hayden Kieth Miller

    Josiah Hayden Kieth Miller turned 11 years old on June 9.

    He celebrated on June 5 with a Laser Tag party with 30 friends and a Pokemon party.

    He is the son of Holly Culleton and Ben Miller.

    Grandparents are Len and Gina Jackson of Harriman, Pastor Randy and Vicki Miller of Iowa, and Chuck and Billie Beach of Oliver Springs.

    Josiah has a brother and best buddy, Zackary.
