    Emerson Reid Bryant was born at 7:51 a.m. March 20 in Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long.

    He is the son of James Bryant and Nikki Cook-Bryant of Maryville.

    Grandparents are Doug and Debi Cook of Kingston, and Ray and Carolyn Bryant of Maryville.

    Emerson also has seven great-grandparents.

    He is the son of George and Cinda Sterner of Franklin, Pa.

    The ceremony will be on Aug. 25 at Norris Dam, Norris. A reception will follow at Norris Dam. Another is planned in Pennsylvania.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College with a degree in human resources. She is employed with Jacobs Engineer.

  • Madeline marks 90th with family

    Madeline Lucille Hill Moates celebrated her 90th birthday on Jan. 9 with her family in Ruby Tuesday, Harriman.

    She was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Auburn, Maine.

    She and her husband of 56 years, the late James F. Moates, had four children. There are also nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

    Attending the birthday party were her daughter, Becky Thomas; her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Debbie Moates;
