Madeline Lucille Hill Moates celebrated her 90th birthday on Jan. 9 with her family in Ruby Tuesday, Harriman.

She was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Auburn, Maine.

She and her husband of 56 years, the late James F. Moates, had four children. There are also nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Attending the birthday party were her daughter, Becky Thomas; her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Debbie Moates;

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Douglas of Harriman celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 9.

Douglas and the former Timmie Stout were married Feb. 9, 1952, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Harriman.

Daughter of William B. “Sticky” and Vera W. “Granny” Stout, Timmie was born and raised in Harriman. She graduated from high school in 1950.

Avery Elise Fritz celebrated her ninth birthday Feb. 1 with friends and family at Tataru’s gymnastics in West Knoxville.

She is the daughter of Matt and Angie Thomas Fritz of Kingston.

Grandparents are Jim and Becky Moates Thomas of Kingston and Ernest
and Cynthia Fritz of Harrison.

Great-grandmothers are Betty Pratt of Urbana, Ohio, and Madeline Moates of Rockwood.

Avery has a 6-year-old sister, Braxton Olivia.
