    Odeen Banken announces the forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Nancy Banken Cloyd, to Peter Junior Ortiz.

    He is the son of Mercedes Ortiz of Carolina, Puerto Rico, and the late Providencio Ortiz.

    The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in Riggs Chapel Baptist Church, Harriman.

    A reception will follow at The Gibson Girls, Kingston.

    All relatives and friends of the couple are invited to attend.

  • Bradford, The Hut’s ‘pie lady,’ to be 100 years old on Oct. 24

    Mary Lou Walsh Bradford, whose pies were revered at her brother’s Kingston restaurant, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Oct. 24.

    Bradford’s pies were a high point in the 1940s and 1950s for many customers of The Hut, which was owned by her brother, Paul Walsh, on North Kentucky Street in Kingston.

    Born in Hollywood, Ala., on Oct. 24, 1911, Bradford married Gordon Bradford and moved to Kingston in 1940.

    He is the son of Ross and Cyndell King of Paint Rock.

    Jace Simeon Tedder celebrated his eighth birthday on Aug. 23 with friends at Kentucky Splash and a baseball-themed party at home with family.

    He is the son of Marty and Robin Tedder of Harriman.

    Grandparents are Ernest and Barbara Tedder and Charles and Becky Lamance, all of Harri-man.  

    Jace has a 2 1/2-year-old brother, Cole Thomas Tedder.

  • Mr. & Mrs. York 40th

    Ron and Shayne McKinney York celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows on Aug. 28 in Church of Joy in Leitchfield, Ky.

    A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. It was hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Savanna York, and grandson, Ethan York, all of Alvaton, Ky.

    Registry table attendants, Briannah and Piper Pendley, distributed programs in the foyer, where a display held Shayne York’s wedding gown and shoes.

    Jessica Tamar Allen of Rockwood and Corey Dustin Jones of Harriman were married on May 20 in Liberty Baptist Church, Kingston.

    The Rev. Randy Griffis officiated during the 7 p.m. ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Keith and Buffy Allen of Rockwood.

    The groom is the son of Charlie and Kim Jones of Harriman.

    The bride, escorted by her father,  wore an A-line  silk ivory dress with beaded lace embroidery throughout with fabric and lace flowers sewn onto the skirt and chapel-length train.

    Cynthia Lynn Franklin and Jody Louis Will were married on July 23 at Chapel at the Park in Gatlinburg.

    The Rev. Timothy McIntyre officiated during the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Don and Barbara Franklin of Kingston.

    The groom is the son of Tim and Patty Will of Athens.

    Following a wedding trip to Alaska aboard the Carnival Spirit, the newlyweds are at home in Kingston.
