    Brenda H. Shaw and John W. Shaw Jr. of Rockwood announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Aleia Shaw to James Lowery.

    He is the son of Kathy and James L. Lowery of Harriman.

    The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. May 12 in Eureka Baptist Church, Rockwood.

    A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at Eureka Baptist Church.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of Rockwood High School. She is a certified nurse assistant for The Bridge at Rockwood.

  • Plemens marks 102nd with special celebration

    Ethel Plemens turned 102 years old on April 3.

    She celebrated with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends at Renaissance Terrace on March 31.

    Plemens has been a resident of Renaissance Terrace, Harriman, for the last few years.

    Until about a year and a half ago, she walked with the aid of only a cane. She would walk the halls and visit other residents there.  

    She continues to have an ever-ready smile for family, friends and staff.  

  • Mead-Morrow

    Willard and Beth Mead of Rockwood announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth Mead, to Chase Morrow.

    He is the son of Terry and Renee Morrow of Cleveland.

    The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. May 12 in Rockwood First Baptist Church. A reception will follow in Grande Vista Bay Clubhouse, Rockwood.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Carl and Ann Wilkerson and Barbara Mead, all of Rockwood, and the late Charles G. Mead.

  • Mr. & Mrs. Gallaher 70th

    Roy and Vivian Gallaher of Rockwood celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on March 7.

    They were honored on the occasion by their church, Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church of Rockwood.

    The Gallahers were married on March 7, 1942, in Lafayette, Ga.

  • Garrett to celebrate 85th birthday

    Ida Belle Raby Garrett will celebrate her 85th birthday on April 6.

    Her family will honor her special day with a celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. April 7 in South Harriman Baptist Church.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

    The first of five children, Garrett was born April 6, 1927, and spent the first years of her life in Paint Rock.

    She was 9 when her father died, and the family moved to South Harriman, where she attended South Harriman Elementary School and graduated from Harriman High School.

  • Gavin Lee Young

    Gavin Lee Young was born at 5:28 p.m. Feb. 23 in Women’s East of Chattanooga.

    He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces.

    He is the son of Ashley Brooke Giles and Jessie Mitchell Young.

    Grandparents are Teresa Lynn Johnson and Christopher Lee Giles.

    Great-grandparents are John and Sharon Johnson, and Rocky and Marty Giles.

  • Emerson Reid Bryant

    Emerson Reid Bryant was born at 7:51 a.m. March 20 in Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long.

    He is the son of James Bryant and Nikki Cook-Bryant of Maryville.

    Grandparents are Doug and Debi Cook of Kingston, and Ray and Carolyn Bryant of Maryville.

    Emerson also has seven great-grandparents.

  • Maggie Rose Richardson

    Maggie Rose Richardson celebrated her fourth birthday on March 8 with a My Little Pony-themed party.

    She is the daughter of Cliff Richardson and Shauna Richardson.

    Grandparents are Jack and Diane Woolum of Kingston, the late Jerry D. Richardson, and Michael and Kay Griffith of North Carolina.

    Great-grandparents are the late J.D. and Mabel Waldrop, the late Otis and Bessie Richardson, Anita Mosley and the late James Mosley.
