  • Ridingses’ 5 generations

    Five generations of Alex and Rose Ridings’ family had a recent family gathering.

    The five generations include, front row from left, Daniel and Gavin Handschumacher; middle row, Lynda Ingle, Katherine Walker Ingle, Vanessa Ingle Handschumacher; and back row, Alex and Rose Ridings and Eva Ridings Walker.

    Alex and Rose Ridings were married on June 7, 1946, and have been married for 66 years.

    Their birthdays are also coming up: Alex and Rose Ridings were born on the same date, May 22, 1924.

  • Celebration to mark Cooley’s 80th birthday

    A celebration of James Cooley’s 80th birthday will be from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4 in the family life center of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where he has been a member for 68 years.

    All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served; no gifts are requested.

    Cooley was employed in the sign department of Rockwood Coca-Cola Bottling Works for 20 years. He was also employed with Rust Engineering in Oak Ridge for 22 years and owned and operated Cooley Sign Co. in Midtown.

    Dec. 31 — Marinda King and Benjamin Gary, Harri-man. A boy, Rylan Seth, 8 pounds, 1 ounce. Grandparents: Gail Ann King; Gladyn Wynn; Teresa Binkley; David Gary.

  • Poole-Foster

    Tony and Beverly Poole of Knoxville announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Leigh Ann Poole, to Adam Foster.

    He is the son of Susan Foster of Knoxville and Paul and Gail Andrews.

    The ceremony will be at 12:30 p.m. May 11 in Concord First Baptist Church.

    The bride’s grandparents are David and Syble Poole, and Barbara Smith and the late J.C. Smith.

    The groom’s grandparents are Louise Foster and the late Herndon Foster Sr.

  • Avery Elise Fritz

    Avery Elise Fritz of Kingston celebrated her 10th birthday Feb. 1 with friends and family at Coolsports the Icearium, Farragut.

    She is the daughter of Matt and Angie Thomas Fritz, Kingston.

    Grandparents are Jim and Becky Moates Thomas, Kingston, and Ernest and Cynthia Fritz, Harrison.

    Great-grandmothers are Madeline Moates, Rockwood, and Betty Pratt, Urbana, Ohio.

    Avery has a 7-year-old sister, Braxton Olivia.

  • Mr. & Mrs. Duff 50th

    John Raymond and Linda Duff of the Paint Rock community will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 19.

    They will celebrate with family and oldest granddaughter, Codi, in her wedding to Stefen Mitchell.

    The Duffs were married on April 19, 1963, in Illinois. They moved in 1976 to the Philadelphia/Paint Rock area, where they raised their daughters, Deneen Heuer of Clarksville and Bridget Duff of Paint Rock.

    They have three grandchildren: Codi and Steffi Heuer of Clarksville, and Breeharra Duff of Paint Rock.

  • Cole Thomas Tedder

    Cole Thomas Tedder celebrated his fourth birthday on March 3 at Chuck E. Cheese with family and friends.

    He is the son of Marty and Robin Tedder of Harriman.

    Grandparents are Ernest and Barbara Tedder and Charles and Becky Lamance, all of Harriman.  

    Cole has a 9-year-old brother, Jace Simeon Tedder.

  • Big plans under way for Kendrick’s 100th

    Ida Kendrick will celebrate her 100th birthday on May 28.

    She plans to celebrate with her daughter, Joyce Lemons of Rockwood, and her nieces and nephews.

    They plan to honor her big day with a special luncheon in Rockwood Street Grill in downtown Rockwood.

    Kendrick is the only surviving child from a family of 11 children.

    She was born in President Woodrow Wilson’s first administration.

  • Nance turning 95 today

    Edith Nance celebrates her 95th birthday today, March 27.

    She was honored by her family and friends with a birthday celebration on March 24 in Bradbury Community Center.

    Nance is the mother of four: Patsy Nance, Larry Nance, Danny Nance and the late Gloria Miller.

    She has a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
