Harriman’s Roane Medical Center will soon welcome 10 new chaplains and trained church volunteers to its volunteer, on-call program.

The program is designed to provide comfort and spiritual guidance for patients and visitors.

The hospital had a volunteer, on-call chaplain training session this week that included information on hospital policies and procedures, proper protocols for visiting a hospital patient, crisis intervention, and a panel discussion on religious diversity.

Kellytown Baptist Church, Oliver Springs, will have its annual Friends and Family Day on May 22.
This event is a time for gathering friends and family and meeting for a time of joy and gladness in the celebration of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Special music will be provided by The Miller Family of Oliver Springs.
The Millers were all born
and raised in the area and have been singing together for several years.  

Four Roane County churches are banding together in a communitywide effort to collect donations for Alabama tornado victims.

The effort, Aid for Alabama, is seeking new and slightly used household items to replace those lost due to the April 27 tornadoes that struck the state.

Volunteers from Kingston’s Victory Baptist Church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church, New Midway Baptist Church and Potters House Church of Midtown will collect all donations through May 25.

Members of Rockwood First Presbyterian Church are gearing up to celebrate the church’s 140th anniversary.

The anniversary of the city’s oldest-established church was officially in April, but the congregation is planing a formal homecoming celebration this summer to mark the church’s years of service to Jesus Christ.

The church began shortly after the founding of Rockwood in 1867 when E. Riggs Forsythe, a Presbyterian layman, took it upon himself to organize a union Sunday school.
