  • Vacation Bible School 2012

    Anointed Praise and Worship
    Vacation Bible school at Anointed Praise and Worship Church, Harriman, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 18-22 in the church at 507 Morgan St. A fun day is planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 16.

    Asbury Chapel United Methodist
    Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church, Rockwood, will have its vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. June 24-27 in the church at 1717 Eureka Road. Classes are available for ages 2-12; the week will kick off with a Sunday night cookout.

    • Dogwood Baptist Church, Kingston, will have a singing at 7 p.m. The Melodys and Gospel Travelers will be featured. The church is on Dogwood Valley Road.

    • Harriman First Presbyterian Church will have its Love Kitchen from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church at 601 Clinton St. Free food and bingo are among the attractions; the Transitions young adults minstry from Bethel Presbyterian Church will be helping out.

  • Pro2Serve and Roane Imagination Library kick off donation challenge

    Roane Imagination Library has teamed up with corporate sponsor Pro2Serve to match the first $5,000 raised by new donors and those who haven’t donated in the last year.

    Pro2Serve, an engineering services company on the Oak Ridge National Lab campus, and Roane Imagination Library kicked off this challenge late last month.

    For current donors, those who donate in 2011 or already in 2012, Pro2Serve will match the increase in the donors’ contribution dollar for dollar.

    • Three Rivers Community Baptist Church, Kingston, will have a yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church at 107 Paint Rock Ferry Road. Proceeds will go toward a mission trip to London in July and the church’s Cross Training Youth Group.   • Three Rivers Rocks the Summer

    Dennis Hawkins wanted to do something for the community.

    Donnie Manis was looking to showcase his artists.

    The mutual interests brought them together to work on “Rock the Summer,” a block party and concert featuring Christian bands.

    The event took place on May 26 at Three Rivers Community Baptist Church in Kingston, where Hawkins serves as pastor.

    Classes for ages 2 through high school will be offered during Beech Park Baptist Church’s vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 9 p.m. June 4-8. “Amazing Wonders Aviation” is the theme; fifth-graders will participate in a program tailored for preteens, while grades 6-12 will go offsite for studies. A fun day from 4 to 6 p.m. June 3 will kick off the week’s events. The church is at 1085 E. Tri County Blvd., Oliver Springs. Call the church at 435-0045 for details or to arrange transportation.

  • Peachtree CAST to be in Rockwood

    “Humpty Dumpty is Missing,” a one-act comedy caper blending fairy tales, nursery rhymes and Scriptural truth, will be performed next month in Rockwood First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 328 W. Rockwood St.

    The performance, presented by the Christian Acting Singing Troupe of Peachtree Christian Church, Atlanta,  will begin after a 6 p.m. covered-dish meal on June 8.

    “Humpty Dumpty is Missing” is CAST’s summer show.

  • Kingston church to Rock the Summer

    Cross Training at Three Rivers Community Baptist Church, Kingston, will have a Rock the Summer block party and concert this weekend.

    The music starts at 3 p.m. May 26 at the church at 107 Paint Rock Ferry Road.

    Musical acts scheduled to take the stage during the event include Restore the Fallen, Sean Blockley, Bone Prophet, Affliction Asylum, Common Clay Worship and Encounter Eternal.

    Those planning to attend are encouraged to show up early to meet the bands. Lawn chairs are encouraged for an afternoon of Christian rock concerts.
